Position Summary:
University of Kalba is seeking a highly qualified and motivated dynamic, strategic, and innovative Blackboard Ultra Expert to fill its position of: (1) teaching and training UKB’s faculty and students the functional tools Blackboard Ultra leaning management system; (2) be the Blackboard Ultra admin who will be responsible for managing and maintaining the Blackboard Learning Management System (LMS) to ensure seamless integration and effective use by faculty, staff, and students. This role involves technical support, user management, course setup, and troubleshooting to enhance the educational experience.
This position, in addition to training duties, will manage and support all functional and technical aspects of the Blackboard Ultra environment. Provide support to its users via workshops, documentation, video tutorials, service requests and consultations. Work with educational departments on campus for user buy-in and support. Work with individual faculty to set courses up in Blackboard Ultra from a functional standpoint. Enhance the Blackboard Ultra environment through the investigation and deployment of new technologies in collaboration with Information Technology technical support. Manage educational technology implementation projects like Banner and LMS platforms.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Provide teaching session in blackboard LMS.
  • Provide functional and academic support for the current Learning Management System (LMS) Blackboard Ultra Learn.
  • Participate in the research of other emerging Learning Management Systems such as Canvas, Google Classroom and others.
  • Work with UKB instructional designers and faculty by providing support and training for educational technologies and integration.
  • Collaborate with UKB units to develop and manage strategies for successful implementation of new educational technologies.
  • Assist and support UKB with faculty integration of instructional technology for teaching and learning in the classroom.
  • Develop training materials including videos, and other resources for educational technologies, for faculty use.
  • Assist and support UKB to design and facilitate professional development programs and orientations designed for faculty.
  • Research and evaluate emerging instructional technologies and methods.
  • Conduct small group and 1:1 instructional support and education for LMS
  • Collaborate with IT support teams to resolve complex technical issues
  • Develop and maintain documentation on using Blackboard Ultra for various user roles
  • Monitor system updates and apply patches as necessary to ensure the stability and performance of Blackboard Ultra
  • Participate in testing new features and providing feedback to improve the system
Minimum Qualifications:
  • Master’s Degree in Instructional Technology or related field.
  • At least, 5 Years’ Experience in Related Field
  • Experience with Blackboard Ultra Learn and other LMSs.
  • Ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing.
  • Ability to convey technical information to technical and non-technical users.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships; Ability to work collaboratively as well as independently.
  • Ability to evaluate the effectiveness of programs and make recommendations for improvements.
  • Considerable knowledge of the current literature, trends and developments in the field of instructional technology.
  • Ability to conduct training and teaching in the LMS filed.
  • Proficiency in both Arabic and English languages is essential for effective communication within the diverse university community. Candidates should be able to demonstrate strong written and verbal communication skills in both languages.
