Position Title: Assistant Professor in Social Research and Statistics
Job Description:
The University of Kalba invites applications for a qualified and motivated Assistant Professor in Social Research and Statistics. This position is part of the Sociology Program within the College of Arts, Science, Information Technology, and Communication.
We are seeking a candidate with expertise in advanced research methodologies, data analytics, and statistical techniques as applied to social sciences. The ideal candidate will have a strong research portfolio, demonstrated teaching excellence, and the ability to mentor students in social research methods and statistical analysis.
The successful applicant will contribute to academic excellence, innovative teaching, and impactful research that addresses contemporary societal challenges and advances the sociology discipline.
Key Responsibilities:
- Deliver undergraduate and graduate courses in social research methods, advanced statistical techniques, social data analytics, and related areas.
- Develop and update course content to reflect advancements in research methodologies, statistical tools, and emerging trends.
- Employ innovative, student-centered teaching methodologies, including project-based and experiential learning approaches.
- Conduct high-quality, impactful research in social research methodologies, applied statistics, and related fields.
- Publish in reputable, peer-reviewed journals and present findings at national and international conferences.
- Pursue interdisciplinary research collaborations within and outside the university.
- Supervise student research projects, theses, and dissertations.
- Provide academic advising and career mentorship to undergraduate and graduate students.
- Contribute to the university’s governance by serving on committees and participating in program development initiatives.
- Engage with the local and regional community through outreach initiatives that promote social research and data-driven solutions to societal issues.
- Stay abreast of developments in social research and statistics, integrating emerging tools, technologies, and methodologies into teaching and research.
- Actively seek opportunities to secure external research funding and partnerships.
Minimum Qualifications:
- A PhD in Social Research, Statistics, Data Science, Computational Social Science, or a closely related field from an accredited institution.
- Expertise in advanced quantitative and qualitative research methods, statistical modeling, and social data analysis and visualization.
- A strong publication record in high-impact, peer-reviewed journals.
- Demonstrated experience in teaching social research methods, statistics, and social data analytics at the undergraduate and graduate levels.
- Proficiency in statistical software such as SPSS, NVivo, R, Python, or similar tools.
- Proficiency in data analytics and visualization tools such as Tableau, Power BI, or GIS.
- Excellent interpersonal and organizational skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively in an interdisciplinary academic environment.
- Commitment to innovation in teaching, research, and community engagement.
- A minimum of one year of experience as an Assistant Professor.
